CONTRACT AWARDED TO LUNDGREN MANAGEMENT BY BAKERSFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

On Tuesday evening, November 24, 2009, the Bakersfield City School District Board awarded a management contract to Lundgren Management for the design and construction of two new schools. The schools will be built simultaneously on contiguous sites in the northeast area of Bakersfield, (near Highway 184 and Bedford Green Road). This contract has an estimated construction value of $42.5 million. 
 
Forty-Five Acre Educational Site
The schools – one an elementary school serving students in grades K-5, will be built on an estimated 17 acres and will encompass 53,000 square feet; the second school, a middle school for grades 6-8, will cover an estimated 28 acres with a projected 78,000 square feet. The schools will be comprised of both permanent and modular buildings and are expected to share some common buildings such as the administration offices and a multi-purpose room.  
 
Stark Landscape to Bustling Campuses. . .
The projected start date is mid-2011. The intervening time will be used by the architectural firm to design the school campuses.
