COC Construction UpdateAugust 18th, 2008 by, College of the Canyons The University Center Construction Project is a 110,000 square foot facility that will provide space for college classes, programs of the university partners, Hart District’s Academy of the Canyons, the Technology Business Incubator, a professional development institute on teaching, and contract education and extension programs. The project is jointly financed by State, GO Bond and Local funds. Lundgren Management is overseeing daily operations of the construction. Fireproofing on the first floor has been completed which paves the way to begin the installation of metal stud framing, plumbing piping, electrical conduits and HVAC ductwork. The structure steel canopies on the exterior front of the building are now being installed. The roof decking is substantially complete and the construction of the roof equipment curbs and duct supports is underway. Miscellaneous site work, including retaining walls and concrete planters, is also underway. The installation of utilities (electric, chilled water, sewer, etc.) from the lower campus to the building is almost complete and the parking lot areas effected will be restored before the start of the Fall semester. The estimated completion date is scheduled for April-May 2009. |
